As a dragon hatched and quickly left behind with no parents or clan to rely on, Irene found out quickly how to steal. It was necessary for her. She had no home to go to, and grew up with a disdain and distrust for the clans she did pass due to their unwelcoming nature. Nobody wants a dragon with sticky fingers. And nobody wants to give hand outs, either.

This general distaste gradually spread to other dragons, as well. Cynical and disillusioned with the world of Sornieth, she felt less and less bad for her manipulation and cunning ploys to get anything she could off others. Eventually, it spread from the bare necessities to much more, silks and jewelry, expensive familiars she could sell at a later date for a high price. Whatever she could get her hands on, she did. And she was good at it.

She grew up tough, eventually learned how to fish herself rather than rely on leftovers and what she could find in a person's pocket. She learned how to make old objects look good as new, both to make herself look good and sell swindled items for more.

Finally, life decided it was time to give her a bit of good luck. After stealing from a traveling prince who had been carrying quiite a bit with him on his journey, she was offered a real home for the first time. A place that wouldn't reject her by the name of Rosehaven. Warily, she accepted, and returned at least most of the items she had taken from the prince. She promised him in return to give up on her stealing once they got there, but even he knew that was hardly the truth. On their travels, they became quite close, particularly as she taught him some of the basics in life and he taught her how to trust.


Upon entering the clan, Irene was given a surprisingly warm welcome. Kallias, the prince she had met on his journeys, was all too honest and informed them of her thievery, but for whatever reason, she wasn't turned away. She didn't quite understand. What kind of place just lets thieves do as they will? Evidently, this was just their way of life. They let things play out as they will, for better or worse, and that included giving people the freedom to do what they want. Of course, her hobby wasn't all too supported, and she was greatly encouraged to give it up yet again. As if.

Irene is still not the most sociable, and often sticks by Kallias' side when she can rather than interacting with the other dragons in Rosehaven. When she does, it's primarily because she has to pick up an odd job here or there if she wants any extra money. At least, the legal type. She does find some appeal in it, enjoying getting a reward for hard work and not having to keep it under wraps. This doesn't mean, of course, that she turns down any less wholesome jobs or doesn't choose some on her own, but that's just how she is.

Over time, Irene became even more close to Kallias, and they became mates. Kallias is incredibly caring and kind to her, and she returns the favor. She's tried to give him gifts quite a few times, but even the ever trusting prince knows better than to take anything she can offer offhand. Instead, he often treats her, hoping it will make stealing feel like less of a necessity. Unfortunately, it's just her way of life now, and it seems unlikely she's ever going to change.
