Biography
6 years old and never gened... Welcome home, buddy.
Lore notes:
- Works behind the scenes, through a hall attached to the second floor. Patrons are strictly not allowed and the door in concealed by a glamor- this is where the shade members go to catch a breather, drop the act, and settle their quarrels. Huge wood floored hallway lined with rooms for each of them, and at the end is a cathedral-like room, massive with soaring ceilings, decorated with a couple desks and racks upon RACKS of candles, gently burning with no smoke.
- Those candles are representative of the souls of their patrons. Each candle is numbered, and a huge record book keeps track of which candle matches which mortal, and who that mortal is paying towards. It's a way of keeping track of how much they're still making, and if they're still alive. There are ways to de-curse yourself... but the candles can tell who's dead and who's simply tried to escape their end of the deal. The candle runs out of wax if dead. The fire goes out if decursed.
- To be more specific, the "candles" are two magic representatives of the parties who are bound by the soul curse. The "wax" is representative of the mortal's soul. It wears down as the curse eats at it, which does cause earlier death for said mortals. The curse is the fire, and the wick is the tether from the candle to the Shade that made the deal; each Shade being has a collection of candles that feeds into them. The candles are created and enchanted by Keeper, and require the mortal and Shade to be present for the enchantment.
- Keeper is in charge of the candles and the records, working closely with Dealer (who's more on the record sides of things). He rarely ever leaves the candle room.
- very quiet, seemed aged in the way he moves and speaks.
- Powerful sorcerer. Confining tiny bits of soul to a candle is an incredible feat... and works on the other shade members as well. Since the shade are finite beings based on how much mana they've accumulated, being candle bound would be akin to torture, sapping them of their lifeforce at whatever speed he desired and redistributing it to whomever he wanted. because of this, the other casino members either heavily respect or fear Keeper. This also means he is the one who enacts punishments, taking mana from one Shade and transferring to another.
- If Keeper is out on the floor, there is a serious problem. Usually someone will fetch a queen or king on his behalf if he needs them, but if he fetches them himself, something very serious and very alarming has occured.
