Etymology: Agni is the Hindu god of fire.
Distant | Fixated | Discerning
On a particularly stormy night in the Viridian Labyrinth, a bolt of lightning struck a tree deep in the heart of the Clan of the Crooked Web, causing it to burst into flames. Despite the torrential rain, the tree continued to blaze throughout the night, the conflagration only waning in intensity in the hours just before dawn, when the downpour was at its heaviest. When the sun finally broke through the clouds, a single shaft of light stood out against the smoke still rising from the smoldering tree, illuminating a hollow in the burned out husk of the tree's trunk. Strangely, within the smoking depths of this cavity, nestled among the still-glowing embers was a single egg, discovered by Belladonna, the clan's matriarch, who was the first to arrive to assess the damage. Within mere minutes of this discovery, the craggy surface of the egg began to tremble, with tiny cracks erupting along its pebbly surface. Belladonna watched closely, silently, until a gleaming golden claw broke through the rocky shell, followed shortly thereafter by a wriggling, brightly-colored serpentine body. The hatchling gazed at Belladonna quizzically through amber-hued eyes, his stare summarily interrupted by a sneeze emitting tiny sparks. Belladonna nodded, speaking a few words in typical Fae monotone: "You shall be called Agni, the Kiss of Flame."
