"Huh! Who are you!" called a young imperial dragon, rolling to his feet and scampering to see who was there. Young Impetus noticed a crimson coatl standing just outside of his lair in the light flight. He shared it with his parents, whose names he never really got to know. He had hatched a few days prior and was already trying to figure out how to fly. "My name is Nympha! What's your-" responded the small coatl, only to be cut off from the clanging of a gong. It was a dominance battle! "I'm gonna go watch this battle Nym~pa, you can come if you want! I've always wanted to watch a battle!" yelled Impetus, scrambling out of their den. His parents landed next to young Impetus and briefed him on a few things. "Impetus, if we don't come back, please go live with Nympha's family. You'll be safe there. Make sure that you don't bog them down, and to stay healthy," his mother told him, before the two gladiators flew off to participate in this battle. Many more gladiators and flew off with his own parents, as they got ready for the battle. Trainers flit back and forth, requesting adolescents to train to fight for the Lightweaver. Impetus had found calm in this chaos. As the days passed, dragons soaring in and out, injured struggling to land safely, medics running back and forth, and mercenaries demanding pay, Impetus wasn't scared. He longed to be part of it. Three days in, he asked a trainer to be trained to fight. As he learned, his passion grew for fighting. His trainer wasn't as active a trainer anymore, and so there was not much way for Impetus to pay back his trainer. |
Before long, Impetus grew restless. He wanted to try and fight someone, but nobody could match his skill yet. That was, until his trainer took another young adolescent under his wing. This dragon was called Jay, and they both fought with a fury unheard of. People throughout the Sunbeam Ruins came to watch these legendary duels.
