Biography

Cosmos often woke long before the other members of her clan. She cherished this time, one of the few moments of the day when she could enjoy the peace of the dawn.

The sounds of the early morning were broken only by the faint ticking of her favored silver pocketwatch, which she had kept since she was young. She had found it while out wandering the Crystalspine reaches, as she searched for trinkets to add to her ever growing collection. She had been so excited when she spotted it among a small outcropping of crystalline growth, no doubt lost by some more careless dragon as they traversed the glittering plains. How lovely it had looked, sparkling in the light of dawn.

Rising from her bed, she sifted her fingers through a nearby pile of precious stones, marveling at how their gleaming surfaces reflected the faint sunlight that dappled the floor. Pink chalcedony, kunzite, almandine - there were so many, and of such different shapes and structures, but all were equally beautiful in her eyes. Well, perhaps all but one. Atop a small podium sat the most treasured of her collection, a rosy piece of quartz with all her favorite constellations carved into its's delicate surface. She smiled, remembering how she and her lover had searched the sky for those same stars the night he had given it to her.

Alongside the stone was a book, one that she longed to spend more time working on. She and her friend had spent countless hours, since they were but hatchlings, carefully crafting a story all their own. What the details were, however, only they knew, for though many a curious dragon had been tempted to read it, Cosmos always seemed to show up at the last moment with some task or other that needed completing. She stroked the cover with a delicate claw. One day, when it was finished, she would perhaps consider sharing it with the clan. But until then, it would remain, like all her treasures, safe with her.
