Biography

White Pawn Handsel
(Han-sel)
Cryptic Family
Clan Cartographer

Quote:
As you approach, the Skydancer looks up from his papers, frantically scrambling to cover them all up before realizing you aren't who he thought you were. After clearing his throat and laughing nervously for a few seconds, he stutters, "H-hello there! I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting anyone to be coming by. C-can I help you with something?"

Handsel is a jumpy, anxiety-ridden male that spends most of his time prancing about and mumbling to himself, occasionally writing something down on a torn piece of parchment before immediately scribbling it out until the paper is torn in two. He has the self-confidence of the first penguin that gets pushed into the water, which is as much as to say little to none.
Most of the other dragons in the Order are suspicious of Handsel's actions, and it is a commonly recognized theory that the reason he behaves so strangely is because he was the runt of the litter and almost perished on his first journey to the next Order campsite.
The truth is very different.
Handsel practices a highly forbidden art in the clan - he writes. He is fully literate, taught in secret by fellow Skydancer Redact before his death to the Beast. Redact believed him to have a special gift - a gift to see the past almost any dragon he desired. With Redact's death, the strange power has only grown stronger. While most biographies were written by Redact before his untimely demise, the responsibility now falls to Handsel, although it is almost immediately clear that not even he knows what this may mean.
In these dire times, he risks his life with every word he writes, for words have carried to him that someone is killing literate dragons. Despite this, he cannot bring himself to stop. He enjoys it too much.
In order to keep his writing a secret, he became the clan's cartographer, drawing up maps of where they were and where they'd been and stuffing the forbidden writings inbetween.
