A fifth tier dragon working under the Engineer, who themselves works under the Archivist and Warlord. Centaurus is responsible for collecting, finding, purchasing and trading for gemstones, their storage and display within the clan's vault and lair, their allocation to clan members with the Archivist's permission, and their treatment and care.

Quiet, introspective, obsessive. Centaurus is what you might expect from a gemsmith - fastidious, patient, discerning. He was the first dragon the Avarice clan, growing in size and wealth, ever paid any kind of substantial fee for to his birth clan to secure his services and permanent residence in the clan. Azrael, the diplomat, was the one to find him and argue his cause - this dragon had a skill set that few possessed, and with the right support and environment could make his home clan wealthy.

Azrael's sizeable investment paid off, when the young Wildclaw found the Avarice clan very much to his liking and set about honing his skill and paying back his acquisition fee almost immediately. His bonded familiar, a Tourmaline Vulstal, can seek out precious gemstones in river beds and below ground, and Centaurus can both appraise their value and process them by cutting, grinding, refining - adding yet more value, before passing them on to benefit the clan in some way. Some go to the jeweler, to be made into fine pieces for the clan's dragons or to be sold. Some go to the tailor for similar purposes. Others may be given or sold to clan members, symbols of their personal wealth or status, and many are sold outside of the clan to bolster the treasure hoard.

Within the clan Centaurus is a quiet but popular dragon. Endlessly patient, he is thought of as pleasant and approachable, although he is given plenty of space and respect in order to do his important work. He can most often be found in his workshop, surrounded by the precious gems he works, but he accompanies his Vulstal on acquisition trips on a regular basis - always with a guard, as he is too valuable to lose.
