Biography

Lenna's apprentice, Celest is a cheerful, kind and oftentimes hyper Skydancer. She used to be a Spiral but she felt indescribably wrong and decided she wanted to become something "more graceful". However, she still displays some traits from when she was a spiral (she twists her tail into knots when she's nervous, uses her hands a lot when she speaks etc.) and she sometimes gets overwhelmed when she "feels" too many emotions at once. Celest is great at multitasking like a Spiral. But, she will usually give herself too many things to do and pile on top of that. Because of this she'll misplace a lot of things. For example, once someone found a dangerous scroll with the hatchlings and another scroll in the food pile with all the fish. Celest is learning how to properly make illusions however, her true talents lie in making inanimate objects come to life and even gain sentience for varying amounts of time depending on how much power she puts into them.

Celest had felt wrong in her scales ever since she understood what that feeling was. It wasn't the amount of energy Spirals had, she fit right in there, but she couldn't help but feel like her body should be moving in a different way. The long length of her body was unwieldy for what she wanted to do, and she constantly found herself tripping over her own length.

Everything she tried to do was a disaster, her clumsiness getting in the way of any work that she tried to do, and physical fighting just felt weird. The clan never made fun of her struggles, but she felt the glances at her back all the same. She didn't want them to worry about her future, and how she would manage if she ever decided to leave.

Celest was determined to prove that she could take care of herself and what better way than by fixing the problem that had plagued her since hatching? She holed herself up in the clan library for weeks, and when the books there didn't yield the answer she had been looking for, Celest started her own research into magic, and stumbled upon a spell, centuries old that would change her species. She picked something that would remove the clumsiness that she had always had, something with a greater relationship to magic, something more graceful.

Her clan mates almost had heart attacks when she emerged from the library a skydancer.

Her ability to master magic already proved, the skydancer Lenna took her under wing. To teach Celest the details and even whole disciplines that Celest had ignored in her research mad frenzy, and to teach the brand new skydancer how to deal with the brand new sense that she had gained.

Excited that she felt comfortable with herself for the first time ever, Celest gained the bad habit of trying to do too much at once. Combined with the energy that she still retained from being a spiral, Celest began to forget when she placed things in her hurry. (No one talks about the scare they had finding that one dangerous scroll with the hatchlings.)

Her lessons in magic focused mostly on illusion, though Celest found her talent in animating objects, delighting in helping others with her golems.She was still determined to learn what Lenna had to teach her regardless.

While there were moments that Celest struggled to explain that her new "feelings" were overwhelming her, and there were still definite traits from her formative years as a spiral, as shown every time she knotted her tail in agitation, the skydance was more than pleased with how her life turned out.
