Origins


Yig did not recall being small. For as far back as he could recall he was as he was, a bold and virile guardian full of vigor and empty of purpose. He was certain beyond certain that a great destiny was in store for him. So he waited. And waited. And waited longer. Weeks turned into ages and he remained sitting still as if carved of stone while his home fell to ruins and crumbled around him.

One day, without ceremony, a feeling overcame him as if he were waking from a long sleep. He heard a voice calling to him, guiding him. It whispered to him wonderful things, promised him that the obsession which had consumed him would soon be slaked.
'You will be a father of serpents. Your brood will be the damned from every nation.'

He ran like a man possessed, his steps guiding him to the small, shadowed frame of a female Guardian. He knew then with absolute certainty that she was to be his consort. Wordlessly he claimed her as his own, assured that their great and terrible union would birth a clan of unmatched might.
