Biography

MAYARI
the warmhearted guard

Mayari was a princess in her old clan, the daughter of an esteemed Water clan leader. He was young and vivacious; Mayari and her twin sister Maria were his first and only clutch. So it came as a shock to the entire clan when he passed unexpectedly, crushed by a sudden rockslide while patrolling along the shore. He left no indication of which daughter would succeed the throne, and he had no official queen ruling by his side, so no dragon was sure who would lead the growing clan. Maria was adamant in her desire to lead, but Mayari feared her sister's ruthless tactics and suggested a joint leadership. Maria would hear none of it and promptly attacked her smaller sister, intending to begin a battle for the throne. Not wanting to fight back and further the conflict, Mayari was forced to surrender when her sister slashed at her face, blinding her in her left eye. There was no healing magic in the clan strong enough to fix such a delicate organ, so she was forced to wait for it to heal. However, her vindictive sibling deemed her no use to the clan with her partial blindness, and Mayari fled the territory with her old clan's guards snapping at her tail. She was soaring over the landscape in search of a place to rest and hunt when she met Mercury, and, after briefly explaining her injury and situation, was invited back to join the Tycho's Peak Clan.

This iridescent dragoness never let her harsh past catch up with her; she fully embraced her father's bright and optimistic views on life and retains them to this day. Although shy when first joining the Clan, Mayari warmed up rather quickly and let her bright personality shine once she was comfortable. At this point she is cheery and merry almost to a fault, as she sometimes finds herself annoying some of the less patient dragons as she goes about her day.

As she's aged, Mayari has retained her bright spirit, but it's been worn by years of fighting monsters and training exaltees. She's much less rambunctious and has matured greatly during her stay, fostering an intense love of her clan and clanmates. An essential binding force in Tycho's Peak, Mayari excels at calming quarrels and has become an excellent confidant. Her optimistic nature has stayed with her through the years, and she firmly believes that her clan can and will outlast anything that opposes it.

Though blind in one eye, Mayari is still a functional member of the Clan and serves primarily as a warrior and guard. One must never mistake her bright personality for weakness; Mayari received advanced combat training while residing in her birth clan, and she and Mercury also help train newly recruited Clan members to fight the various monsters lurking in the Starfall Isles. Her companion, Beryl the Wildwood Owl, acts as her extra pair of eyes while she surveys the ground below. Her favorite pastime involves collecting and crafting; she tries to take an object home after each outing and turn it into something beautiful. Naturally, her hoard consists less of gold and gems and more of bits and baubles, from bird skulls to twigs to tiny, shimmering scales. Mayari is the heart and soul of the growing Clan, and is adept at cheering almost everyone up, even when she isn't trying. She is the main reason that some dragons who aren't intellectually inclined have chosen to stay at Tycho's Peak; diplomatic and persuasive, her radiant demeanor eventually convinces even the most resistant or unsociable of dragons to stay for a while.
