Timidly, she dipped her toes into the icy water. The water was calm today, but she could see clouds gathering on the horizon. No clear skies tonight, the Astronomers back home would get a welcome respite for sure. She kicked her feet lightly, thinking. As a a young, new Warden, all eyes were on her, The other Wardens pressuring her into training, and the continual disappointment as her powers proved to be less than satisfactory. And still, they drilled her. She had finally gotten away for the afternoon so she could wander the iceflows near the mountain. The cold water didn't bother her, but she did draw her fur cloak tighter around her shoulders. Being near water always calmed her, it soothed her aching head and troubled soul.
"Erzulie?" She jumped at the sudden voice behind her. She turned quickly and saw Hazel, dressed in her greens and holding her wooden staff tightly. She looked troubled. "Is everything alright?" Erzulie shrugged. "I'm as well as it can get." She turned back to face the ocean. "I wanted to get away from the Wardens for a little while." Ever since she had come to the mountain, Hazel had always been fond of her, giving her warm smiles and comforting words. Hazel was probably one of the only people in Star Water Mountain that she trusted. "You're always welcome in the oasis." She murmured. Erzulie sat up straight. "Are you sure?" The oasis was the most secluded part of the underground, a cavern imbued with magic, with a crystal pool and verdant green plants that Hazel tended to carefully. It was Hazels sanctuary. Hazel nodded. "I think you would like it there, come see me sometime." She looked down at her feet. "I should probably get going now, It's getting too cold for me." Erzulie nodded and watched Hazel trod away, back towards home. She felt something bubbling within her, a feeling of hope and warmth, before she realized that she was embracing the power of a star. She stood suddenly, and looked out over the steely green ocean. the ocean she thought. She dipped her hand into the water, and pulled it back out, but pulling water with it. With amazement, she watched the water swirl in her open palm, not a single drop falling back into the water. She felt the power leave her, and the water lost its rounded form and trickled through her finger tips back into the ocean.
