The peach tree spirits Taohua and Taozhi visited Tavor and Tzila, coatl whose existence had come about thanks to a curse from a dying peach tree, while they were sleeping and purified the curse of the vengeful spirit from them. The residual energy formed itself into two coatl who were reflections of Tavor and Tzila, only light in color instead of dark. Like Tavor and Tzila, Hugh and Blush have no notion of their supernatural origins, and Xo has raised them as normal coatl.

As she grew, Blush developed the ability to magically create light - a glowing, rosy light. Though many consider it a somewhat pathetic form of magic, she has made herself useful in mines and other dark places.
