Bumblegust "According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a snapper should be able to fly" Happy ~ Snappy ~ Polite Assistant to anyone who needs an assistant, Bumblegust simply does what he's told to do, politely and happily. He really enjoys getting to know so many dragons around the Lair, and helping the Lair Leadership in any way they need. It makes him feel a part of things and that he is doing a worthwhile job for the good of the Lair. Hatchling Sitter, Dishwasher, Closet Cleaner, Wall Builder, Well Digger, Admin Assistant, Lab Assistant....he's done them all and looks forward to each day's new adventure! Bumblegust was honored to be a part of the historic "Can Snappers Fly?" The experiment was done during the Snoring vs Soaring: The Dadliest Dom Battle in HIstory between Wind and Earth in June 2016. |

"But @Windsinger is off on an adventure,
and hasn't been seen around Wind Flight in a long long LONG time." |

"Then we party without him, again!"

....Which leaves a few Windsnappers and Earthsnappers
gathering in a nearby field, and their voices are getting
almost loud enough to carry...wait...
Are they arguing over whether snappers can fly?!

And somewhere in a windswept field of boulders, somewhere between the Shattered Plain and the the Zephyr Steppes, two groups of snappers have mingled for a brief time...

"Cloudroller, I don't understand your position in all this. You propose that there are ways to make snappers fly like many of the other breeds of dragons, but seriously, we belong on the ground. We are made for rooting in the earth, and we have no business in the clouds at all."

"My esteemed Bearcharger, technology today would not only allow snappers to fly, but would give us a great advantage in battles in the air - flying attacks with our thick armored skin? Just think of the travels! The glory!"

"We must research this idea. Gather up young assistants and let's run through some ideas and see what happens!"

| "Bumblegust, I'm feeling wobbly about this..." | "Sapphire, it's probably just indigestion. Maybe." |
Day 2
Under the direction of the elder snappers, the young assistants build two strange contraptions. The elders strap them in and shove them off the cliff....

"Well that was interesting! My assistant seems to prove that Snappers CAN fly!"

"Come on, Sapphire! It's great up here!"
Day 3
Bearcharger looks up from the splendid report he was writing about their scientific endeavor...

---Bearcharger says---- |
"Looks like proof snappers cannot fly, there is my assistant still on the ground."

Sapphire continues to munch on the snackage brought by the very nice snapper that was left in the field....and invites everyone around to join in the munchies. Flying can wait. Who really wants to fly when all the snackage is on the ground anyway?
Day 4
He's Flying AGAIN!
Day 5
Bumblegust is STILL FLYING!
Day 6
Bearcharger looks up again from his nap (science takes a lot of effort)...

---Bearcharger says---- |
"Looks like proof snappers cannot fly, there is my assistant still on the ground."

Sapphire lands gracefully and sits in the breeze. Not moving. Actually, she can't move. Her muscles have frozen solid - she blinks. Then she keels over snoring. A nice little snapper who is hanging out in the field gives her a nice blankie.
| "Bumblegust, I am just not feeling this yet. Bearcharger is sleeping again. How about we go do something else?" | "You just need a bigger wind under your wing, Sapphire! Come on, give it another try!" |
And on the final day of the scientific experiment
to find the answer to the ages old question,
"Can Snappers Fly?"
Sapphire says, "Mmmm, that was so good, little snapper friend. I am almost stuffed to my ears! These snacks were just what I needed!"
Munching sounds continue...
"Wait, is Sapphire still down there on the ground?" asks Bumblegust.)
| "This is soooo good, and now I am sooo full I can barely move." | "Oh it IS, thank you lil snap! I don't think I have seen a better spread! This flying thing is HUNGRY work!" |
They both yawn and decide to nap.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the field,
we catch Cloudroller and Bearcharger
deep in a culinary discussion of their own...

"... best spice combo for roasting over an open flame, gets all crusty and sweet."

---Bearcharger says---- |
"I will try that tonight, thanks for the idea! Hey, isn't it past time to check on our assistants and get some final data?"

Cloudroller and BearCharger grab their clipboards,
turn to the appropriate page
and head over to their assistants.

---Bearcharger says---- |
" So...you two are not flying?"
|
"Nope. Can't fly!" they both say at the same time.
They gently pat their full bellies and fall asleep.
Bearcharger makes a mark on his clipboard.

"Final proof! Snappers cannot fly."
