Peridot's son, on the other hand, was not so fortunate. Without his mother's common sense, his passion and creativity went unchecked, and the family was often too busy with their own work to notice what he was up to. One of his experiments went awry and an explosion happened that he couldn't escape from in time. The result left him mortally wounded. There was no time to find a healer, he was too wounded, and life was fading from his body. So his dad panicked and did the only thing he knew to do, in order to save his son's life. He took his machinations and made his own son into a cyborg. Shri, his mother, protested this idea. She didn't want her son to die, but she also didn't want to lose him to whatever insane idea Peridot had. What if the cyborg body changed her son into a monster? But she couldn't stop Peridot. He wouldn't listen to reason anymore. Their son was alive, but he wasn't the same anymore. He seemed like a hollow shell of his former self. Sure, he wasn't making dangerous inventions or performing risky experiments anymore, but he also lost his passion. He barely even crafts anymore, unless it's 100% by-the-book and safe. He more often ends up inspecting his family's work, testing it, and correcting mistakes that were made.
