As one of the clan's two trainers, Gertigru dedicates her life to mentoring the young dragons chosen to serve Windsinger. Countless have graduated under her rigorous tutelage, transformed from clumsy, wide-eyed hatchlings into battle hardened warriors. When witnessing Gertigru's teaching methods, one might believe that she cares little about the well-being of her students. After all, what responsible trainer would bring their newly-minted charges into the deadly Mire for their very first battle?

In truth, becoming attached to the young ones passed into her care was inevitable. But they were all destined to leave one day, never to return again. It would be far less painful to simply forget about them, and the countless more that would surely come after.

On the flipside, the one dragon Gertigru cannot seem to get rid of is Ayden, her fellow trainer. She finds his dramatic behavior to be distasteful, but cannot bring herself to stop fretting over him.
