Solaria

Solaria came from a land where the sun shone bright, reflected off sparkling snow and glistening ice. But it was a land that did not agree with her. The cold crept through the lair of the Whiskerwing and chilled her to the very bone.

She wrapped herself in furs, in wools, in scarves and capes and other warm things. She would not sleep alone, but wedged herself between her parents in their nest. When she was taken outside, she cried.

Her clan matriarch, Whiskerwing, was at a loss with what to do with the silly child. She was made available at auction, and the clan hoped she would fetch her price quickly and go somewhere where she would be happier.

It was Terpsichore who noticed her, on one of her first trips to the dragon-market with Amaryl. The fae was to teach her about the workings of the auction-house, and the Singing Lair was in need of new blood.

Terpsichore saw Solaria - bright eyes, shimmering wings - and fell in love.

On the plateau, Solaria thrived. The sun here was warm and soft, not cold and bright. And it nurtured things, green growing things.
