Biography
Kara started out as a priestess in a Plague Clan that resided in the Abiding Boneyard. Although she was adept at creating diseases and other bio toxins, she was still young and inexperienced. As such, she couldn't always control her experiments and mishaps often happened. These included causing a clan member to develop what appeared to be some form of necrosis, though he was still living and causing another clan member to go blind. Her worst mistake however, was when an experiment with a virus went awry and killed off her entire clan. She had been raised to be a bringer of death and sickness sure, but she never wanted to kill those close to her, never.
Racked with so much guilt, Kara couldn't bear to stay there another minute. Flying high over the continent, she searched desperately for a new place to call home, or at least a place she could stay for a little while until she figured everything out. After days of nonstop flying, she briefly considered returning to the Scarred Wasteland, but she began to have second thoughts. In that moment of hesitation, she flew right over it and was soon flying over the Starfall Isles. It was then that her wings finally gave out from exhaustion and she tumbled down. She would have died had Malefor, who was flying about that evening, not come and saved her.
When she woke up, Kara found herself in what seemed to be a clan lair. As she tried to get an idea of her surroundings, she soon realized she wasn't alone. Another dragon, a guardian named Hiro, was there with her. By the color of his eyes she could tell he was a nature dragon. This troubled her a little as Nature and Plague dragons didn't always trust one another due to their deities being sworn enemies.
He asked if she was in any pain or anything like that so it seemed like he wanted to help, but at the same time he seemed to be reluctant to do so. She was sure that had to do with the fact that she was a Plague dragon. Still, she explained that she was sore, weak and exhausted due to flying nonstop for a few days. She left out the reason why she had done so as she hadn't felt up to talking about it yet. Despite his somewhat blatant reluctance, he did give her some herbal remedies to help her. One would help her sore muscles and the other would help get her strength back up. He even offered to answer any questions she might have about the remedies. This surprised her given his attitude but she was grateful nonetheless.
After leaving, Kara was confronted by Malefor who told her she was welcome to stay if she wanted. While not 100% sure, she didn't want to cause another pandemic, Kara knew she wasn't in any condition to try and find somewhere else so she accepted. Almost immediately she was given a spot of her own in the lair and Malefor and his wife Dawn made sure she was comfortable and well fed. Their kindness despite her being a stranger was both surprising and heartwarming and it made her much more willing to stay.
While a bit shy and nervous, Kara slowly got used to her new clan as the numbers increased. A lot of her time was spent with the Nature dragon she had met, whom she learned was named Hiro, for checkups and such. He was cold and distant towards her at first, something that stung her already aching heart. But as time passed, she noticed his attitude changing. He softened some and actually seemed to care about her. She wasn't sure at first what to make of it, but she was getting used to being around him. She also soon found she was starting to enjoy spending time with him once he had softened. While the other clan members were nice and definitely cared about her, he seemed...different. She could see something in his eyes, something that said they weren't so different. But she wasn't sure it was her place to ask so she didn't bring it up. If he wanted to tell her, she would wait for him.
So time continued on and Kara found herself spending more time with Hiro, even when it wasn't about medicine/her condition. She really enjoyed their time together and often felt longing when she wasn't with him. She wasn't sure how she felt about this growing attraction but she knew she wanted to nestle up with him, letting his warmth surround and protect her. She also knew she didn't want to lose him the same way she had lost her former clan. That thought made her heart sink and would sometimes keep her up at night. As they continued to grow closer, Kara began to trust Hiro more and more, even to the point that she felt she could talk to him about her past. She felt he would listen and maybe, given what she had noticed during their first few visits, he would understand her.
So one night, Kara nervously asked Hiro if they could talk, alone. He seemed worried but he agreed nonetheless and she led him to the Starwood Strand. Once there, she stood in silence for a while, growing even more nervous. This would be the first time she had spoken of her past since that fateful day and she wasn't 100% how well she would hold up. When Hiro asked her what it was she wanted to talk about, she began to tell her tale. Her body trembled as she spoke and she found it harder and harder to continue, but somehow she did. By the end of it, she was in tears and found herself wrapped up in Hiro's embrace. It felt more wonderful than she had imagined and in her emotional state, she confessed her love for him. For a split second she was worried he would reject her and her heart threatened to beat right out of her scaled chest. Then Hiro said something that both surprised and and warmed her nervous heart.
"I love you too..."
Hearing those words made her lips turn up in a small smile and her body finally began to relax. The feeling was truly amazing, having someone who loved her as much as she loved him. From that night on, Kara and Hiro became closer than ever before. They often shared a spot in the lair and just spent as much time together as they possibly could. When he bought her a necklace to show his love, she soon did the same by buying him a plant based familiar due to his love of life. Once the Riot of Rot came around, Kara couldn't help but worry that Hiro wouldn't support it given his Nature ancestry. However, much to her surprise, he not only accepted that she wished to celebrate it, but celebrated along with her. He was even supportive of her getting an Enduring Goblin during the festivities.
When she's not nestled up with her beloved, Kara is often relaxing with her pet. She still creates strains of diseases, but uses them to help Hiro advance his remedies so that he can further help the other clan members. Kara is kind and gentle and hopes to never kill again. She is sweet towards everyone in the clan and sees them as a family.
