Kida

While quite young, Kida is extremely talented in magic. She dedicates most of her time for her research about the nature and origins of magic. She is as hyperactive as she is intelligent and finds staying put an impossible task. Even when buried under tomes in the quiet corner, she taps her paws or swishes her tail or absently plays with her mane.

Once, when she was doing one of her many experiments, the raw magic involved in the ritual got out of control and backlashed. It hit Kida hard, knocking her out for several hours until others found her. She was weak and shaken with magical runes embedded into her body. She recovered within days and it looked like she got away unscathed. However, it soon became clear that the ritual had left other marks than just the runes. Kida found her body becoming far more sensitive to magic with aggressive spells wounding her even in small quantities and healing spells all but rushing to heal her wounds. Her own magic began to feel more eager as well, but with her skills it didn't take long for her to rediscover the right balance in her spells. Despite the close call she experienced in the ritual gone wrong, Kida's curiosity hasn't withered.

Kida sees magic as a force that is as much a part of nature as the sun and the sky and the rain and the winds. But where does it really come from? How come others are gifted in it and others aren't? Is it physical? Spiritual? Something else entirely? These are only some of the burning questions she seeks answers to. She wants to understand magic better and in doing so, perhaps improve it and take its evolution further. The fact that she can't fully explain the results of her own incident prove that there is much that still need to be figured out about this force of nature. After all, dragons are often attacked by both raw and refined magic so why did her body react as it did?

Technically Kida has no official job in the clan, but she knows the lair’s library inside out, backwards and blindfolded. So in her spare time she helps Nerissa in any and every way possible. Other than that, she spends so much time buried in her research that others have to often remind her to eat and sleep. However, she is a very social dragon who you could talk with throughout the night, provided you can keep up with her when she gets excited.

Despite her tireless research and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, she also loves outdoors. She often takes her meals outside and in good weather, reads or makes her notes in sunlight.
