Everyone was baffled. Very rarely did Ipilliuateotl ever speak, much less to state that he had positive feelings about much of anything. Mouskhet gave a curt nod, she trusted his gut more than she trusted her mate. She tossed a sack of shimmering treasure onto the station and Ipilliuateotl grabbed the whelp in his muzzle before anyone could touch her.

Gaven stared on, only he and Oontepi had ever felt any warmth from Ipilliuateotl. He knew this brood was not random. Following close, Gaven looked at the other clanmates and urged them on. Parfuum was unmoved by the act, this was evidently a Ridgeback thing that others in the tribe did not understand.

Then why was Cihu so shaken by it? ... What was wrong with this hatchling.

Her name is Vahmeera. Oontepi stated plainly as she addressed the tribe.

Many of the dragons had been silent since the event occurred. It seemed supernatural and frightening to them. The Voorsk and Dolk-bloods were extremely calm, almost joyous. It seemed as if several of the Voorsk were celebrating the arrival of the new hatchling.

Tell them the news. They deserve to know the occasion. Parfuum approached from behind Oontepi, automatically stealing the attention in the room. His fleshy hide, speckled with sunspots, was hard to miss - even in the dim light of the underground tunnels.

Oontepi took in a deep breath, she wasn't sure how the clan would react. Then again, they could just maul them into silence if this went too poorly.

Vahmeera is Ipilliuateotl's cousin. They are twenty-four generations removed from the same common ancestors. His brother, Loras, sired her distant relatives.
