Iolande

Iolande’s introduction to Ichinite Valley was dramatic, to say the least. It was a peaceful day when, seemingly from nowhere, an injured dragon fell from the sky, her wings almost destroyed by something unidentifiable. The clan did as they do best and swarmed to take care of her; Quartz determined in her professional opinion that this mysterious dragon’s wings could no longer fly due to extensive tearing and burning of the flesh, down to the muscles and tendons inside them - they were well and truly mangled. Iolande was distraught about the prognosis, to say the least, but she never did explain who or what had attacked her. While Quartz began the slow process of nursing Iolande back to health, Riikka found herself called upon to help, and came to Iolande and Quartz with the idea of mechanical wings, which could not replace Iolande’s damaged wings, but could serve to help her regain some limited movement with them. It would never be enough to fly, Riikka explained, and Floyd would have to help me, but they wouldn’t just be useless and dead at your side. After some deliberation, Iolande accepted the suggestion, and Riikka (with some assistance from Floyd, an actual engineer) built Iolande a pair of wings, for accessibility - sparking an interest in Iolande for both blacksmithing, and for Riikka.

Iolande is the softer edge to her mate; where Riikka is boisterous, brash, and gets caught up in her work, Iolande is a mediator, a problem solver, and well known for her seemingly infinite well of patience. She gets excited about clockwork and gadgetry, and often spends her free time trying to learn how things work… even if that means pulling them apart first, much to Floyd’s dismay.
