*Hired a young Fae to be his research assistant, and especially to help him with turning pages in tiny, fragile books.

*Which seemed great until said assistant got some wild ideas about how they should be doing field work. The word 'adventure' was used at some point.

*She talked him into it and they set out to explore some ruins that she reassured him were 'not dangerous, or at least not dangerous to us.'

*He wasn't sure what that meant until they got to some iffy places in the ruins and it turned out that meant she EXPECTED THEM TO FIGHT WEIRD MONSTERS IF ANY SHOWED UP.

*NO THANK YOU.

*So the two of them parted ways amicably.
