Biography
Leilani the Astrologer
Mate of Magnar
"Come closer, traveler, and I shall speak of the stars I see in your eyes."
Leilani was born in the deep winter of the southern ice floes, on a night when the aurora was so bright that it seemed the gods themselves were painting across the sky. She fell in love with the lights and the stars from a young age and longed to learn all of their secrets.
A traveling group of Light scholars came to the floes of the south one fall, intending to linger and study as the nights became longer and clearer. From their tomes and knowledge, she learned more and more about the night sky she had been born beneath and loved so much.
Among the group of scholars was a young warrior, the son of the expedition's guide. Guardians were not strange to her, living near the sea-ice, but this boy was. Like most of the Light, he had a research focus, and it was ethics. He was obsessed with honor, and what it truly meant to live a life of goodness and respect.
Leilani was accustomed to survival. Food could be lean and the winters so cold. Her people had little time to think about what it meant to be lawful or ethical, not when there were more important things. This boy's head was full of nonsense as far as her people were concerned, but then, so was hers.
Her familiarity with Guardians allowed her to catch on early when he went out of his way to clear her path or protect her from a bitter wind. He had chosen her. Leilani knew that his heart was a pure thing, as clear as the bottom side of an iceberg. This good, honorable male would stay with her if she chose to remain in her home, by the icy sea.
When summer came, and the scholars packed up for the long flight home, Leilani left with them. She was an outsider among her own people, but perhaps she could find a new place among different ones. She already had a perfect spot, following her beloved Guardian like a comet around the sun.
