"The Desert Wanderer"
lightning_0.png1067.png192.png12945.png He knew it was a high honor to be exalted, so a hatchling Keto was overjoyed when his mother told him that he was going to serve the Tidelord.

Upon finally reaching the Spiral Keep, Keto got to work instantly. For about half of a year, he labored tirelessly, trying to please his god.
That's when it happened.

Keto stepped into the Keep's library, carrying an armful of scrolls recording the Tidelord's prophecies, when he dropped one of the scrolls and, as he went to pick it up, noticed the blood. It was everywhere: spattered on the floor, bottom of the shelves, and even the countless ancient books and scrolls stacked upon them. Dropping the scrolls without a care, he followed the bloody trail with shaking legs.
The figures lying splayed out on the ground were the source. Keto ran over, fighting back nausea, and felt their chests. No heartbeat. Dead. He also noticed the bloody blade lying on the ground mere feet away from the bodies.
With shaking claws, he picked up the blade. That's when the library door slammed open, and another dragon entered. Keto turned to see this new dragon wide-eyed and already turning to dash back to where they came.
And so the chase ensued.
Keto pounded after the stranger, handle of the blade in his mouth, and as he caught up, the dragon burst into the main room: the abode of the Tidelord. The god turned around, and his eyes widened at the sight of this little Skydancer chasing after his worker with a bloodied knife.

Keto left within the hour after the incident. Luckily he had few belongings, so the burden of supplies was little. He slipped out of the Spiral Keep and, being a Water-born dragon, swam up from the depths without a problem. He leapt from the sea in a spray of droplets, and winged his way toward the one place he would be safe from his god. The god who was undoubtedly hunting him.

Nothing stirred when Keto finally landed in Dragonhome, exhausted.
He dragged his feet, forcing himself to keep going. Gotta...keep...moving... was all he thought, over and over again. Despite his determination, he soon collapsed. Tears leaked from his eyes as the gravity of the situation finally fell on him: he was being hunted by the all-powerful being he had worked so hard for. He had no home.

Vultures scattered at the sight of the dragon approaching. He licked his parched lips and set his bird skull headdress on the ground beside him before bending down to sniff the carcass that the scavengers had been gathered around.
Despite being a Skydancer--a breed whose diet consisted entirely of plants and insects--he still ate the near-rotten meat. Opportunities like this rarely came up: he had to take advantage of it.

Keto lifted his head and put the headdress on once more. The outcast known as the Desert Wanderer continued on his way, not even knowing where he was going. All he cared about was escaping the Tidelord.
