Biography
Sadie and her serthis Eidas came into the orchard in the middle of the night, both gravely injured. Eidas was curled on Sadie's back, one arm loosely around her neck and the other around her pearl, so that she could walk on all fours. His green blood was mixing with her red; his back and her wings were bleeding. She lay down just inside the north-eastern honeysuckle trellis gate because her legs would not support her anymore. Early that morning, when Yxagon, Mila and Yiobhan set out for their Greenskeeper scavenging and digging, they happened upon them. Yx was the only one who spotted them, thanks to his superior eyesight, for their green stillness mingled so well with the flora by the hedge.
Sadie was too much in shock from blood loss and mental strain to speak, so it was Eidas who told their tale, none of his normal flippancy to his words. They had set out from their birth clan barely a week before and had enjoyed the trek through the Shrieking Wilds until a pack of rampaging manticores attacked them. They defended each other as best they could, but were actually saved purely by chance when a silverbeast rumbled by. The manticores ran off in fright as the silverbeast continued on, seemingly without noticing the goings-on. Sadie and Eidas limped on through the evening until they couldn't go on, finding themselves right outside our gates.
They're recovering well, physically anyway, although Sadie's wings have been bleached by the ordeal and are now much lighter than her father's, as well as potentially permanently disabled. Eidas's brilliant green scales will scar in places, likely making molting difficult in the future. And they're both terrified of going back out into the Wilds.
