Viper Mire Warrior Quick | Cunning | Relentless Viper came to this Clan as a hatchling with no memory of how he'd actually gotten there. Esmeralda claims that his arrival was predicted by the Clan's shaman, Koi, who said that a viper came to them in a dream before making an appearence in the form of the physical hatchling. Believed to be a bad omen, some dragons shunned Viper and would not allow their hatchlings to play with him. After a few days, the shaman whispered "beware the black mamba", and within days a second Mirror hatchling arrived at the Clan. Her scales were as black as a starless night, her red eyes glowed with an eerie light, and her beige wings were folded tightly against her body. She looked like the Black Mamba, a snake on Earth, and a species believed to be long extinct here. The two mirrors took an instant liking to each other, and formed a Coliseum team together to help strengthen the Clan. Turns out these bad omens were actually blessings in disguise; this bonded pair provides an abundance of food for the Clan as well as training and protection. Viper was hunting along the Sandswept Delta when he came across a Shattered Serpent's nest. The eggs lay in pieces, a sign that something has preyed upon this predator before it could be preyed upon itself. As he turned to look elsewhere, Viper felt a thin cord wind its way up his left arm. As fast as his name, Viper whipped his body into a roll and dislodged the potential threat. Only upon closer inspection of the threat did it get revealed that there was in fact a sole survivor of this nest! The pitiful and thin Serpent hissed weakly before falling limp in the sand, obviously giving itself up to fate. Instead of making a quick snack of the little snake, Viper brought it back and fed it rodents that he caught. Once the Shattered Serpent regained its strength, it rose up and carefully, tenderly even, wrapped itself around Viper's arm. When it got too big to hang onto Viper, it learned to quickly slither along beside him during hunts and travel. It aids Viper in taking down larger game and even assists in keeping eggs safe from scavengers (much to the initial alarm of the nesting dragons). |
