His Serthis friend, Mana Viridus, is a decendant of the Serthis who used to accompany the old Ridgeback, Norse, the cartographer who first mapped all of Gyinum and it's surrounding lands. In her old age, she decided to settle down in Gyinum's capital, where she met Guatincuula. He took an interest in her stories, and when she passed, he inherited her map collection and possessions. As a royal, he donated the maps to Inertia, who cataloged and preserved her findings. The Serthis bloodline, (The Viridus,) who had been the "official" companions and extra eyes to Norse, decided to follow Guatincuula. Because of this, in hundreds of years when Guatincuula takes the throne, the Serthis' will become royal as well.

Although Mana is his personal assistant and best friend, she has a few siblings and cousins that help around the castle. Although Mianou and Ahrai were first concerned about the alliance, they soon warmed up to the Viridus family.
