Wind Flight

Fern soared high in the air, and dipped his wings into the clouds as he felt the soothing high winds pass over his scales. He loved the thrill of seeing how high you could fly, just straight up, up, up, breathing in the cold air and soaking in the sun's warm rays on your back. Not a care in the world, just you and the winds and the euphoria and serenity of flight. He just took it all in, hovering above the cloud wall and watched as the sun started to set, turning the sky to soft yellows and oranges; the colors of dusk. Up here, he was free.

Something nagged at him from the back of his mind, and though he tried to ignore it, the thought started to solidify in his mind. He sighed. If only- His thoughts were abruptly cut off when a hard object suddenly shot out from below the clouds and barreled right into him. "YOW!" he shrieked, and only after many sharp turns and quick shifts of his wings was he able to right himself in the air. He shook his head and glared at the Fae dragon hovering in front of him. "What the crap was that?! You practicing how to murder someone from the ground, Zerny??" Fern said. Zerny was still shaking himself roughly from the head-on collision, and was doing tiny flips in the air as he did so. "I didn't... mean... to!" he managed to say, "And don't... call me that!" Fern rolled his eyes. Zernif had always had awful wing control, even though he was the fastest of the dragons at the flight tower. His entire existence just proved that with great power came horrible control of it. Zernif finally righted himself and was able to look Fern in the eye. A smile played on his lips, but the carefree banter that had happened moments before disappeared just as quickly. He grew suddenly serious. "Kowla needs to see you. Like... now. Apparently something... happened..."
