Biography

Shade-touched | Silent | Watchful
She knew she was a powerful Oracle. Dragons were constantly begging her to tell the futures of their families and clans. She only let the rich dragons hear their fortunes, though. Her clan mates despised that, but as she always said: "Why give them something important and valuable if they can't pay for it?" She sat on the ridge in the darkness, finally alone. She'd been reading scrolls for months. She was ready now. Signum slowly lifted one talon, held her palm to the sky, and let loose a stream of Arcane magic. Glowing pink mist swirled around her. She spread her wings, and the mist flared out, then condensed into a sphere of magic that settled into her talons. She leaned in toward the magic. "Let it begin," she whispered, throwing it in the air. The sphere stretched into a line of blinding light as it flew, then collapsed into a small blob high above her. It shimmered for a moment, then exploded, causing a shower of pink mist and gold sparks to fall in a circle around her. A black mist swirled toward her, gathering at her talons and slowly taking the shape of a dragon. She reached out, and her talon passed through the dragon's obsidian scales. "Good, you're here," Signum said, looking into the other dragon's pure black eyes. "So. It's done. You promised." Very well, the words appeared in her head. I suppose I did. The shadowy creature reached out toward her. She waited patiently. Yells echoed through the forest as her clan searched for her. She flicked her tail, and immediately the world went silent, except for the nervous cawing of her Death Seeker. Must that thing make noise? the Shade questioned. "I suppose not," the Pearlcatcher sighed. "Corvus, silence." The bird ruffled its feathers in annoyance, but stayed quiet. The Shade put one smoky talon on her pearl and began whispering a spell in its strange way of talking. A smile slowly formed on Signum's face. Finally, she would be as great as a deity! A sound like thunder echoed over the horizon. Signum turned toward the sound. A flock of dragons was coming toward them, surrounded by a shimmering pink light. She flicked her tail, but nothing happened. She frowned. Of course. They were the Exalteds. Protected by Arcanist himself. Destined to destroy the Shade. "You need to get out of here," she said to the dark dragon. "Now." The Shade obediently leapt into the air, shifting to blend with the clouds. Most of the dragons turned to follow it, but a Fae and two Imperials landed by Signum. "You're coming with us," the Fae said. The Imperials grabbed her and flew away before she could protest. After what seemed like hours, they finally landed at the Observatory. Signum was dragged down numerous long hallways lined with glowing runes before they finally stopped at a large door. "Wait here," one of the Imperials said. He turned and entered the room. He came out after a few moments. "Come. Your destiny awaits." He forced Signum into the room, then left with the Fae and the other Imperial. Signum looked around, confused and blinded by the thousands of glowing runes that floated through the air. |
