Ciel: French for "sky, heavenly" Ciel's first memory is waking alone among the rose-colored stones of the Crystalspine Reaches. He watched the sky, confused, for days, before hunger forced him to explore. Weak and alone, he depended heavily on the familiar he had summoned to guide him around the Starfall Isles. Ciel managed to support himself on one of the outer islands, but was largely powerless against other dragons. Determined, Ciel worked to improve his magic skills so that he might someday be able to find out from the Arcanist what his purpose is in life. That changed, however, when Ciel's clan of one-and-a-familiar had a visitor. A strong-looking, light-purple Guardian crash-landed on Ciel's little island, narrowly missing some of the sharper stones. She was unconscious and Ciel had half a mind to run while he still could, but he pitied her and decided to do what he could to heal her. He waited for her to awaken, hiding behind a cluster of stones (just to be safe - he wasn't afraid or anything). Though both parties were wary of each other, the Guardian - whose name was Memory - had nowhere else to go and felt indebted to Ciel for his help. He begrudgingly agreed to let her join his clan, but secretly Ciel was glad; he was beginning to feel lonely with just a demon snake as company. Ciel and Memory slowly became friends, and after a time Ciel realized he loved her (to his utter embarrassment and horror; she was going to mock him endlessly, he was sure). Surprisingly enough, Memory confidently told Ciel that she loved him, an event which left the normally-calm Ciel gaping and babbling. When Ciel regained his composure, he assured Memory that he felt the same - he was always a bit more lighthearted after that, but if anyone mentioned as much, they would earn a glare (at least). Their clan quickly grew after that with the addition of Teth, an apostate from Light, and Cynfael, a fellow fae escaping from the boredom of her former clan. --- Personality: Ciel was initially very lonely, as one tends to be when they wake up alone in the world. He often felt directionless and wanted to go speak to the Arcanist to find a sense of purpose, but Memory's arrival would change Ciel's perspective considerably. Though he can still be stubborn and maybe a little tsundere at times (but prepare for death if you call him out on it), Ciel's mood has improved considerably and he is content with leading and protecting the family he has created around him. |
