It's entirely possible that Linger may bump into you as he meanders his way across the Isle, or maybe your eyes were drawn to him by the sound of his quiet murmuring. Immediately, something about the mottled dragon seems off. Uncanny and wholly disconcerting. His eyes seem unfocused and his movements are languid and casual, but altogether clumsy as he stumbles over clearly placed stones.

Unless you choose to draw close to him, it is impossible to know that he is not speaking to himself but rather appears to be holding several conversations with unseen figures. You're likely to assume no one is there. You are of course, wrong. Not uncommon, so don't feel guilty, but it's quite normal for people to assume that just because they cannot see something there is simply nothing there.

Linger can see. In fact, young Linger is older and wiser than his skin, surrounded by teeming gaggles of incorporeal figures. Souls long since passed from the earthly plane drift to him and his seeing eyes, making conversation and keeping close to him for reasons even they can't be sure of. He's never alone, though souls come and go, some staying longer and some gone in a blink. His clumsiness isn't his own fault, he's never quite focused on the living realm on the whole.

Still, if you manage to work all this out ( or simply ask him who it is he's speaking to ), you'll find Linger to be a gentle sort with an airy disposition. He'll be happy to keep you company and talk to you at length, so long as you don't mind sharing his attention with the unseen.
