Iblis

Iblis knows of this clearing, he'd heard the whispered tales of a sanctuary protected by the Gladekeeper herself. He sought it out for years to no avail, eventually, his clan leader thought him weak and unworthy. Deeply wounded and clanless he roamed until he found the clearing. How cruel for it to be here now, he cried and punished himself. His wounds healed fast, and the cuts he carved on himself got deeper. In his pain he was enlightened, he thinks it a gift from the Plaguebringer herself. This was a unique opportunity, he could corrupt the clearing from the inside with the knowledge he was granted and redeem himself.

He continues to cut himself as a form of devotion so his gift does not wane. The other dragons find him strange but they all have their issues. He has mated with two others in the clearing in order to tap into the strong magic. His children are connected to the land like he will never be. With the gift of the Plaguebringer, he never forgets.

His relationship with Nihon was born of a desire for power. She, being the only other dragon to retain her memories, is very powerful and he wished to pass on their collective power to their children. Once Ardat was born he spoke to her of his scheme, hoping she'd understand how glorious it would be to fell a space this powerful. Nihon was horrified and broke it off with him. He was certain he'd made a mistake, that he'd be kicked out of the clearing, but he was not. He still holds some (twisted and contrived) feelings for Nihon, he thinks she came around to understanding his mission despite the fact that she won't speak to him, only Ardat.
