Common Boxwood Timber Tender Blooming Pods

The sweet song of the forest whistles through the canopy, bright and warm no matter the season. The panpipes' call is an alluring thing when it sounds so peaceful and soft. Few can resist it, and Fen least of all.

He was always inclined to laze around rather than work even before he first heard the forest sing to him, even if it frustrated his clanmates to no end.. But once he heard the reedy notes of the pipes, it was all over. He fell in love with that song, heard it in his dreams. He wanted to follow it to the ends of the earth, and he wished he could fall in love with it for the first time all over again someday, just to have the joy of experience once more. But failing that, he wanted to find the source, and find it he did.

Somewhat.

It’s hard to recall what he found in the woods when he finally worked up the courage to find the music’s source. Maybe it was a grove of faeries. He remembers twinkling lights and beautiful flowers. But maybe it was just music drifting from nowhere, lulling him to sleep. He remembers waking up refreshed from his nap at the foot of the old ash tree. Regardless of what he found, though, he came back changed into something almost as much deer as dragon. Fen is still himself for certain, still inclined to sleep and play,, but there’s something uncanny in the way he handles panpipes now, something unsettling in how deftly he navigates the woods. No matter, though, because the sweet song of the forest whistles through the canopy, bright and warm no matter the season.
