She’s a locksmith, most of them will say, gesturing towards the tiny caravan she calls home.

Locks are her speciality, yes. She can craft intricate locks and keys that require certain dragons to use; locks made of wood that seem so much easier to crack than they really are and keys made of the purest ore. Everything is shiny metal and glazed wood, pairs of locks and keys hanging on the shelves of her small caravan.

But this isn’t the only thing she knows how to do.

She makes tiny wooden toys, carved from sandalwood and cedar and oak. Each is made with perfect care: unicorns and floracats and sparrows and so much more. Her workshop is filled with shelves upon shelves of work-in-progresses or completed projects. A life-size felt-fabric jackalope slumps in a corner, probably the only thing not made out of wood or metal in her workshop. She’ll let hatchlings play with it when they ask, but when it isn’t being tugged or hugged or chewed, it sits on a dusty shelf, as if it’s a memory she’d rather not recall.

And sometimes, she combines both of her trades, making small compartments in her figurines that can only be opened when you push a hidden button or turn a horn anticlockwise thrice or pull a carved feather.

She doesn’t know what they’re for yet.

But it’ll be important.
