Lonny
The Lorekeeper Lonny came into the clan quite spontaneously. One day he just wandered into the clan, and though at first he got some strange looks, he fell into place fairly quickly. He serves the role of lorekeeper. Naturally in tune with words and writing, his talents aid him in his work. However, most of the time he is daydreaming, playing with birds, With most dragons, Lonny is able to charm them- no problem. However, if there's a lady dragon that he's interested in, then without fail, he will royally screw up and ruin his chances. He also tends to use punny, lame pick-up lines, which in some cases chase away the girl right off the bat. Even though he recognizes that all of his romantic endeavors are essentially hopeless, he secretly hopes that someday he'll find a lady dragon that will love him, quirks and all. When it really comes down to it, he's a true gentleman. And somehow, he ended up finding a lady dragon that returns his feelings. Her name is Eren, and she's a very outgoing Nocturne. When he first met her, he loved her enthusiasm and her ability to ramble on about science for hours. She somehow ended up falling for him as well, and the rest is history. They're a very happy couple, and soon will have many hatchlings to show even more love to- he's always bringing her gifts, writing her poems, and generally swooning for her- so who knows how overboard he'll go with his children. Lonny also has a natural affiliation with birds. Even when he first showed up, he always had a bird following him around. (Today, he has a Tatterwing Carcass by his side.) Whenever he goes outside, or as he likes to say, "leaves his inspiration hole," birds flock around him. No one really knows why, but some dragons consider it a special ability. He is a strong advocate for bird's rights, and makes sure that every dragon in the clan refrains from harming one of his feathered friends- and if they have to catch any, they use ethical traps, and if they are going to eat them- well, the other dragons keep away from him. He'll end up causing a scene. Everyone is starting to see birds as friends rather than strictly beasts or food (or are starting to), thanks to him. Gentian, the clan's patriarch, was introduced to his current familiar, Lupe the Cardinal Hippogriff, through Lonny. As well as various others who will not be mentioned for the sake of length. Dress-wise, Lonny prefers to keep it relatively simple... but stylish. Thus the reason that he only wears a black and white scarf, which in his opinion, makes him look devilishly handsome. He also just prefers to keep his body free from restraint, since that would limit his movement (and of course, compromise his ability to show off his sexy moves for the ladies). |

Clan's Foundations
Our clan was founded when Clematis first decided to settle down. She began digging a den, and another dragon- now her mate, Gentian, spotted her. Sensing that she was having a bit of difficulty, he began to help digging out her new lair. He said, "You can go gather sticks to shore-up the walls, I can do the digging for you." Adoring his humble charm, she went and did as he said; it took them many more laborious hours to finish creating the den. When they were done, they were both exhausted, and decided to sleep through the night together. Ever since then, they've stayed in that same den and lived together. The other dragons in the clan, which all have their own stories of entering the giant family- mostly have their own dens with or without their mates, since they oftentimes prefer different types of dens and would rather live separately. Sometimes members of the same species share a medium-sized lair with their own small dens within it. There have been many occasions of the clan's territory and dens expanding, and the Shadowbinder has blessed the clan many times by allowing them to claim more of her land.
The Pmatriarchy
Neither males nor females really have more rights than the other- in this clan, all dragons are valued based on their kindness and good spirit. Of course, there are leaders in the clan, Clematis and Gentian. Clematis is the true leader, but Gentian also has certain rights as her mate and a founder of the clan. No one goes against Clematis- there's no reason to. She keeps everything under control, and does her best to make sure everyone is happy. Overall she's a talented leader, and no dragon thinks that they could do a better job than her.
Dragon Hatching, Death and Exaltation
New dragons joining the clan is always an exciting event- whether it's due to a couple laying a nest or older dragons making this place their home. However, there is a special kind of excitement around baby dragons. When they are first laid and until they hatch, there is always someone watching over them. A majority of the time, it is Twilightmist who takes care of the eggs and hatchlings, but occasionally another dragon takes over to let her have a break. Every egg hatches with a large commotion, as almost every dragon in the clan is excited to meet the new members, whether they decide to stay or not. The day of their hatching is celebrated every year, and is called their "hatchday". This is a special celebration often involving the dragon's favorite treat, and a custom of giving the dragon a gift. It is considered rude if you're close to the respective dragon and don't give a gift- so try to remember who's hatchdays are coming up, and start preparing gifts!
Dragon death is a very uncommon occurence- it takes a severe injury remaining untreated to kill a dragon. Never has a dragon been seen dying of old age; it seems that they live on forever... The closest thing that most dragons will encounter that's even similar to death is exaltation. Exalted dragons are sent to fight for one of the elemental deities for eternity- and this can either be a punishment or an honor. For certain crimes, a dragon may be exalted so that they are no longer a threat to the clan as well as useful to the Shadowbinder. A lesser crime may only result in banishment, however, as unless it is necessary, this clan prefers not to force a dragon into exaltation.
When a dragon is exalted from this clan, whether honorably or as a punishment, a shrine is erected in their name. An image of them is shown, as well as various decorations depending on the exalted dragon's or their loved one's wishes. For most dragons, flowers are placed at this shrine in their memory, said to give them strength to fight on and keep them in everyone's hearts. The area dedicated to these shrines is well protected, with many guards. A few of the guards assigned to this place are permanent, and there are a few spots that every dragon (that doesn't have another permanent job within the clan, for example, the hatchling-sitter, Twilightmist, wouldn't guard the shrines) will end up rotating through; the dragon in this shift changes every week.
Gentian's Lost Twin
Molly was shocked when she first saw Gentian. "I... how did you-" He turned to look at her, and that's when she noticed. His eyes, they were purple! The dragon that she knew had red eyes, characteristic of a plague dragon. He fumbled nervously under her red gaze. "Oh, I'm sorry. You just look exactly like someone I knew in the plague flight, but you have shadow eyes."
"Umm, well, uh, that's weird..." He looks at his claws, unsure what to do.
"I guess you just have a lost twin, huh! What's your name, anyways?"
"I'm Gentian..." Glancing up for a second, he sees the friendliness in her eyes. Maybe plague dragons aren't so scary after all... but talking to any dragon is scary to begin with...
"Nice to meet you, buddy! I'm going to go meet some of the other dragons in the clan, so I'll see you around."
"Wait!" She turns. "What's your name?"
"Oh, I'm Molly. Or at least, that's what everyone calls me!" She winks at him.
"I'll see you, Molly."
Dragon Drawings
One day, Lonny found a beautiful drawing of a dragon in his library. Hmm, he wondered as he gently picked it up with his claws, where did this come from? It's quite pretty. He decided to craft a snakeskin-bound book to hold the drawing, secretly hoping that he would find more to put in. Two days later, another drawing appeared, this time of second coatl. Ever so often there will appear a drawing- though Lonny doesn't tell anyone about it, he can't seem to figure out where they're coming from. Oftentimes he wonders how they'd be able to sneak in, but he dare not ask whether if anyone had been seen coming in before they appeared.
A very long time had passed, and Lonny had completely forgotten about the drawings. They sat in their unfilled book on a shelf, slowly collecting dust. He was writing, very entranced in his work, and quickly wandered off into another room to talk to a dragon about the event he was recollecting. When he returned, there was yet another drawing sitting on the desk he was working at. Since he was so involved with what he was doing, it was three hours until he noticed it.
