Biography

Alseides ”We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or we can rejoice because thorn bushes have roses." It fell with fire in its wake, trailing radiant sparkles of red and pink as it fell. The sky was lit up by its descent, the night sky turning pale as dawn before slowly, as if with a sigh, changing back again. The star swooped gently over the horizons of Dragonhome, gradually losing the force behind its flight, then finally landed. Not with a crash, nor a bang like most meteors. It fell softly, than sank through the earth, vanishing out of sight before any dragon could come close to inspect it. The dragons of the Earth Flight came together to excavate the star, curious as to what magic fuelled it. It took them months after months of gruelling work, during which they dug up a great number of mineshafts and the stories lost within them. As the Earth dragons dug down from the surface, little did they know that the magic within the star, in all its radiance, had found something to fuse to, as was the instincts of most incorporeal objects. The star had landed in a cavern glittering with raw rubies, and jagged with the remains of the unfortunate, and the magic it contained had bound itself to its surroundings. Slowly, the rubies and bones of the cavern came together, centered around this reservoir of magic. There, it waited. Finally, the Earth dragons dug down to the cavern where the star resided. They were surprised to see no more than a single egg, cracked like the earth and seeping magenta light. They approached the egg cautiously, and when no danger showed itself, took the egg with them to the surface for further research. Other than the abnormal light that surrounded it, the egg proved no different from others, so the Earth dragons decided to raise it as one of their own. They nurtured it to its hatching, then raised the small imperial dragon that came forth from it. They taught her the ways of the Earth Flight, and told her the stories woven around the land. They raised her, taught her, and when it was time, gave her a name and let her go. They called her Alseides, Child of the Stars. |
Alseides is known to be impressively calm, whether it be a life-or-death situation or one of her clanmates running around on fire. She might actually be the only dragon in the clan who can calm down and chill out when told to, though if you're expecting her to pour water over your flaming mane, you'd probably have to ask someone else. Alseides is an exceedingly active member of the clan. Tell her to guard the lair? She won't let a single mouse, much less a clanmate, in. Tell her to make an alchemical brew? She'll stare Baldwin down until he gives you all the goop for free. Ask her to do a Swipp Swap? She'll probably terrify the poor Fae into giving up all his merchandise. However, Alseides has a limit to how long she can socialise with others, and once she runs out of fuel, she simply lies down and refuses to move until someone carts her off to her lair to recharge. Ever tried carrying a 6404.87KG lump of leather plus Baldwin's cauldron and Swipp's cart? Not fun. Despite her participation in clan activities, the one flaw Alseides has is her emotionlessness. Being quite literally born from a rock doesn't tend to give one much in the way of emotions, so feelings and such only exist as a concept to Alseides. Because of this, she does not understand the sorrow in losing a friend or family, and no matter how hard certain clanmates try, they simply cannot aggravate her. Some of her clanmates have suggested a magical potion the clan alchemist made, but while Alseides would love to understand what emotions are, she'd prefer normal emotions, such as happiness and sadness, without the extra dash of glitter and hyperactivity. Knowing her clanmates, that's generally out of the question. |
Alseides has done research on the star that brought her birth, and surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) she's traced it back to the Observatory. Reports also show that the Arcanist set off some unidentified fireworks that coincides with the sighting of her star. In other words, it would appear that the Arcanist was trying to nuke Dragonhome. But come on, why would a respectable god like the Arcanist do such a thing? After a few incidents involving a hysterically screaming clanmate who lost their precious stuffed animal, Alseides has decided to further study the concept of emotions so she doesn't deal the killing blow to her clanmates' feels. The clan leader has presented her with a baby Starsweeper, whom Alseides is hoping to bond with and therefore derive feelings for. Let's just hope she knows well enough to not smash the glass container. |
