Biography

Rahal Zaniin is the daughter of Modestie (an Imperial, from whom Zaniin inherited her primary color and primary and secondary genes), the daughter of Lagaz (also an Imperial with Cherub and Butterfly), the daughter of Dreemurr (a triply-caribbean Imperial with Cherub and Butterfly as well), the daughter of Ellegaard (a triply-caribbean Imperial), the daughter of Aegis (also a triply-caribbean Imperial), the daughter of Odana (yet another triply-caribbean Imperial lady), the daughter of Symphonia (a triply-azure Imperial), the daughter of Azura (a seventh Imperial), the daughter of Marina (an eighth), the daughter of Araxie (a ninth), the daughter of Kintelle, the daughter of Menolly, the daughter of Wisteria, the daughter of Kaiyochoseki, the daughter of Rajani (a Skydancer, as Zaniin was when she hatched), the daughter of Flavor (a first-generation Fae). (Araxie's Imperial heritage came from her father, Pompeii, who inherited it from his mother alone, Poppy, a first-generation Imperial.)

For all that Rahal Zaniin was hatched a Skydancer like her father, she is now a Tundra; and despite the unfailing welcome she has received from the Solar Solar, her signifier is the singularity Scrywolf Trapped In Glass. She retained a great deal more telempathic ability from her birth-breed than she admits, as well as a continued fondness for crunchy moth legs.

Her occupation with the clan is a writer of contracts and repairer of codexes; both skills were needed enough that the Solar Solar paid all of her travel expenses up front. She is fascinated by the enormous sundial on the Sundial Terrace, and makes regular pilgrimages to visit it, occasionally accompanied by Alia on the way there or the way back. She has been featured on the "front page".

Rahal Zaniin arrived from the Southern Icefield with an Ectoplasmime in tow; at about that time, Caramel left for the Lightweaver's exalted service, and his Ectoplasmime began following her around as well. Eventually she had nineteen mimics cuddling up to her when she slept and eagerly greeting her whenever she came home... until her first Night of the Nocturne with the Solar Solar, at any rate, during which fortnight twenty-one more joined her side. (Fortunately the pace of Ectoplasmime arrival slowed since then; only twenty-six Ectoplasmimes have been added in the five Nights after that first one with the Solar Solar.)

She steadfastly does not talk about why she left the Southern Icefield, why she arrived with nothing more than a wolf cape and an ectoplasmime, or when she became a Tundra. The ectoplasmimes discourage too much questioning, and take a very dim view of being asked questions themselves.
