Biography
Coeus (weak|determined|optimistic) . "I-I'm gonna be okay!" |
Introduction He got the curse from his mother, probably. Not that she ever had to endure what he does now, and not that he ever got to talk to her beyond the first few seconds out of the egg. But, going off what he's been told by those who knew her before she ran off, he knows that TURBROPOWA leeched money off people, and she had a possessive mindset when it came to life, and she could do magic, and she loved flowers. So naturally, as the second-born, the curse is his to bear. He's surprisingly cheerful, given that he's been alone for so long. You see, the curse goes like this: Though every rattling breath he takes should be the last, the grass he stands on wilts under his claws, life given to let him live just a longer. It's selfish, but he can't help it... and though all he wants is love and joy and compassion, his awkward ability tends to make other dragons tense, nervous. What if he can kill them, just by touching them? What if he did? Would that make him guilty? Would that make him able to live a long, healthy life? No-one wants to find out the answer to that the hard way, the cursed dragon included. With no parents to protect him or argue against a quarantine, the hatchling's been quickly separated - not just from his furious sister, but from the rest of the clan, and even the rest of Auction House. In a small tent, he waits, with a price tag around his neck, and a large stock of healthy plants to keep him in good condition. But the fence is low, more a decorative affair than anything trapping, and his 'guard' is usually reading a newspaper. This dragon is somehow still a good guy, despite everything about him dying and rotting, and no-one wanting to talk to him, let alone adopt. He's not going to let the curse get him down; it's stopped him from dying, so there must be something he has to do. He keeps his head high, even as he's sucking the life out of the most beautiful daisy he's seen yet, wheezing as he does. If anyone would just listen to what he has to say, they'd see that he's genuinely nice guy, confident, energetic, determined - just in a bit of a bad situation, that's all. ...His mother always was stubborn. Skills Though both children received magic from their parents, neither manifested as the good sort of magic. This Coatl definitely got a worse sort than his sister, though - whatever plant–life he touches withers and dies, as the kid naturally sucks up its life force. This is actually all that is keeping the dragon alive; he has little life force of his own. If completely deprived of plants, he will collapse and die after just a few hours. The bigger and healthier the plant, the longer he can last. Though very weak physically, unable to achieve anything faster than a walk unless he's just taken the life-force of a large pot-plant, this Coatl has a strong and agile mind, particularly when it comes to mathematics and analysis. With training, he could be a near-genius at mental math, algorithms, statistics, or even chess. He also has a strong confident streak, which could make him a good speechwriter (though he'd make an appalling figurehead due to his many physical issues). Personality Again, it's entirely unknown whether this dragon can take the life–force of animals or sentient beings, and no–one in his birth clan is willing to test it. However, it's definitely a possibility, and one that his birth clan's been extremely worried about. Though they're still trying to sell him (being a perpetually broke clan is a difficult thing, you know), they've put him well away from the main sales area. Such isolation has given him a very confident personality, which is only amplified by his strong analytical skills, plus attempts to mask his very obvious physical weakness. Like most hatchlings, he is quite rambunctious, which shows in the way he talks. The Coatl's very chatty, and loves to talk about the latest technologies and experiments involving plants, always looking to make use of his very sharp mind. With that said, this dragon is very self-aware, even as a hatchling. He has committed his full care plan to memory, and knowing that in times of crisis, he will not survive long without proper medical care, carries it on his person. He also has some social issues (he talks too much, too loudly), which could get on others' nerves. However, it's important to remember that these are a by-product of his isolation. The Coatl's simply not used to holding conversations with other dragons; since he's still young, this could be trained out of him.
