Biography

Prophet of Storms

Bound by the ice on her wings, her chains, and her own promises, Byress has given herself over to ice and lightning despite being hatched of plague. By sacrificing her own gift of flight and donning a mask that has altered her soul to be able to use two kinds of magic she wasn't hatched for, she can divine the weather despite the cost it extracts on her body and sanity.

Though Ruen is older than her, the skydancer treats her as a mentor and with great reverence for her talents though she begs him to not emulate the price she has paid for them. Their relationship is close, but fraught with fear and sometimes resentment on his side that she does not want him to become as skilled as she is. Byress knows this despite Ruen's attempts to hide it, and it instills a tired wariness in her as she both instructs and wards him from the higher prices magic and sight can extract from a dragon.
