Mage Easily excitable - Loves strawberries - Thinks he's bigger than he is About Regulus is the tiniest mage in the whole clan! He has been practically obsessed with magic since the moment he hatched. He made it his life's mission to study the magical arts and become a mage. When he was but just a hatchling, Regulus knew he wanted to control magic but wasn't sure how he'd go about it. He'd ask older, adult dragons how they did it, how they created spells, how they cast spells, how they could make magic with and without verbal commands. Everything about magic fascinated him. Some of the mages humored him, encouraging him all along the way. Some others were a bit annoyed by his never-ending questions. It was one of these more gruff dragons who dismissed him, telling Regulus to gather some parchment and a quill to take notes with to study and ask fewer questions. Regulus, eager at the idea of making his own little spell book of sorts, flitted away at lightning speed in search of paper and leaving the other dragon in peace. The very first dragon Regulus went to was Salacia, knowing the clan's historian kept a huge stock of paper at the ready. He nearly knocked an entire shelf down in his excitement to find her, quickly straightening various scrolls as he asked her for some paper to use to take notes. Salacia, who had not much interacted with the tiny fae personally but heard a myriad of stories about him, liked him immediately. She not only gave him some rolls of parchment ("For rough drafts, you see!") but also an entire blank book, ready to be filled with the young dragon's scrawl. Regulus thanked her in his trademark overly enthusiastic way and promised to return the favor, some day, some how. Salacia simply asked him to visit her and tell her everything he learned each day and show her progress of his very own spell book. Regulus made and kept that promise. He would have dinner with Salacia each night and excitedly recount the day's events and read aloud all the notes he took and showed her a new line or two in his book. Salacia, over time, grew incredibly fond of him, and Regulus grew fond of her in return. Salacia ultimately named Regulus her charge, vowing to protect him for the rest of her days. Now Regulus, a bit older and not at all any less energetic, has mastered quite a few spells and has even crafted a few of his very own. His book is coming along quite well and if you spare him just a second of your time, he'd love to show you his work! Etymology: Ancient Roman name meaning "prince, little king" |
