Shadowfall

Shadowfall's egg hatched minutes after midnight. His once crackling egg now lay in shards around him, and the only light in the nesting grounds came from his luminous eyes. When morning came, the guardians of his nest were shocked to see he was gone. It was rare for dragons to hatch at night, and even rarer so for them to wander away from the nest in the hours after birth.

Though they searched the lair high and low, even sending scouts into the surrounding Shifting Expanse they never found the missing hatchling. Shadowfall watched, all the while, from his position among the shadows. During the day this unusual spiral creeps among the places where light does not shine. At night, he is in his element, flying free across a star spangled sky.

As he searched for his home in Sornieth, he grew ever more impatient with traveling freely only at night. When the sun shone, Shadowfall began to wend his way from shadow to shadow, taking care to be sure that his own shadow never betrayed his location. Young hatchlings and superstitious dragons alike began to tell of the shadow-creeper who would steal your shadow and use it for his own if you weren't looking...

No one knows if these rumors are true, and this mysterious spiral has much more to discover about himself before he can even be sure of his own true identity. Though one might expect Shadowfall to find a home in the Tangled Wood among the dragons who by their very nature call the shadows home, he could not find peace in the Shadowbinder's domain. For the time being, he is content to continue traveling in the shadows, allowing those he watches from a distance to see only the glow of his eyes from the darkness around him.
