Biography

UNNAMED
Random Progen Reincarnate

A devote dragon to all that he believes in, this mirror is a perfect role model in believing. His incredible perseverance shines in his actions and words, obvious for all to see. But this trait of his does have his downsides. While he works hard for the things he truly cares for, this often leaves him ignoring things that aren't in his interest.

Even though he comes across as someone serious and uncaring in the affairs of others, this mirror is actually quite loving. He shows a deep respect and love towards the deity he honors: The Earthshaker. Striving to honor and praise The Earthshaker the best he can, this dragon takes it upon himself to train as many dragons, who would later serve the god, as possible.

He is said to be the reincarnation of one of the clan's original founders, though he has many doubts about it. Flirt, the other founder of the clan, isn't convinced either. Nevertheless, he admires Flirt and is currently in the process of bringing back their relationship; cautiously, of course, as he isn't aware of how she would react. But he hasn't even thought of giving up yet, saying that he would follow her to the ends of the world regardless if she believed that he is her mate incarnate or not.

STORY

"I hope you'll get better soon. It's quite lonely in the clan without you!" A young fae exclaimed, bearing a sad and lonely smile.

"Yes, I agree. It's quite annoying, being stuck in here." A male mirror growled, venom lacing his speech. He wasn't furious with his mate, a female fae named Flirt. Rather, he was furious at himself. Furious that he had allowed himself to catch this illness in the first place.

At first, it was only annoying; a fly that buzzed around him as if he were a barn animal. Of course he had no idea what the illness he caught was at the time, and decided to ignore it. Devoted always had a poor immune system, and thought that he was just coming down with something else he had previously caught.

He just ached; his entire body did. Perhaps it was the early signs of a fever. To not worry his mate or his clan mates, he kept this to himself, and had to show that he was fine. For a few days, he was. This was something that he could tolerate. However, the disease progressively got worse.

The mirror felt nausea next. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't eat, for fear of hacking it up later. Even the smell of something could set his stomach to churn uncomfortably. He had endured it to the best of his abilities, but it eventually became to much for him. During meals, he would excuse himself and wander to the farthest place from the food, covering his abnormal behavior by bringing a book with him.

Flirt and his clan members finally noticed something wrong with him when he had lost a considerable amount of weight within only two days. No matter how much Devoted had tried to deny it, Flirt knew something was wrong. She forced him to eat sand two times a day, hoping that it would calm his stomach.

It didn't. Devoted knew it. The mirror knew that this wasn't any illness. This is was something major. And it was bad.

But Devoted knew he couldn't have his mate fretting over him. Using all of his willpower, the mirror somehow managed to eat a few things, but they were rather plain foods. No one questioned the change in food preference, and he was thankful for it.

The disease was getting worse. It now became something the haunted him like the plague, causing him to suffer in every waking minute. He constantly acquired fevers, and it became hard to sleep. He had to do something.

In secret, Devoted met up with the clan's healer for a diagnose. The news was probably the worst he could have learned.

"...I'm sorry, Devoted. I have only seen this disease once, and I still have no clue what it is. All I know are the stages you go through. I cannot help you."

The news lay heavy on the mirror's heart, but wanted to know everything he could about this illness that he had.

"Then... Could you tell me about the stages?"

The healer was reluctant, but agreed to it in the end. "There are five stages in total. You are currently in the third stage. In about a day or so, you will begin to enter stage four. I'm not entirely sure what happens in stage four, but when you enter the final stage, your organs will shut down one by one until you die. This process will be extremely painful, I'm afraid." The healer stopped speaking, before giving a look of pain and guilt to Devoted.

"I'm so sorry. If only I had more knowledge of this disease, I might be able to help you. I don't think any other healers would know of this illness, more or less be willing to help us."

Devoted said nothing. He stared at the wall, with the light already gone from his eyes.

"Please... don't tell anyone about this, especially Flirt." "I can't comply with that, Devoted. The others must know, for you will die in a few mere days! We must tell them th-"

Devoted cut the healer off. "That's precisely why we can't tell them! The clan might fall into chaos if they learn that I'm going to die! They'll be susceptible to invasion. We don't need another Betrayal." The mirror finished with strong conviction and determination.

Unfortunately for the healer, Devoted did have a point. "Alright then, how about this..." The healer trailed off to choose his words carefully before giving his suggestion.

"We'll tell the clan that you are sick, but we'll leave out the part that the disease will eventually kill you. We can just say that you caught something again, and that it would take a few days for you to heal."

Devoted hated lying to his clan like this, but... what else could he really do? Although he wasn't going to back down, it seemed even more unlikely that the healer would.

"...Very well." The mirror mumbled, as the healer gave him an appreciative smile. "Thank you, Devoted. Now, as I told you before, the next few days will be very painful for you. Because of this, I'll give you a liquid that will numb the pain under the disguise of your "medicine". It should help ease your suffering, and also allow you to look a bit more convincing in the fact that we're telling the clan that the disease you have isn't really as bad as it actually is."

The healer stopped, and began to create the comfiest bed he could for Devoted using various leaves, moss, and soil.

"You'll be resting here, under my care. Just in case something happens, since I'm the only one who knows the truth of this illness."

The mirror only nodded, and curled up in the makeshift bed. The healer placed a Gladewalker Cape over Devoted like a blanket, and left the healer's den to tell the others of Devoted's illness.

"Again, Devoted?! What are you sick with this time?!" The mirror only gave a small laugh at Flirt, who sat right by his bed in the healer's den.

"Ah, whatever. At least it doesn't seem too serious; you look like you're faring alright." At these words, Devoted's smile dropped. Oh, how he wished it were the case.

Suddenly, Devoted's eyesight began to fail. Black was dotting the edge of his vision, and it felt horrible to do something even as simple as breathe.

Flirt noticed the change in her mate, and looked at him worriedly. "Perhaps it's time for your medicine again..." The fae mumbled, more at herself than to Devoted. Flirt walked toward a desk where all the ingredients were laid out when the time for the mirror's medicine came, along with instructions on how to prepare it.

But Devoted knew that it actually wasn't medicine; it was only a painkiller to ease him in his final moments.

As it hurt to breathe, Devoted only took short, small breaths of air, which quickly made him feel lightheaded.

"Flirt, I..." He began to say painfully, but the fae had finished preparing the liquid painkiller and just needed to let it sit for a minute.

"Don't worry, my dear. Your medicine almost ready!"

Devoted felt completely exhausted. It became harder to see, with black consuming more of his vision. He could also feel everything growing quieter.

"Alright! Devoted, it's done! Now, be good and take your medi-" Flirt spun around with the cup of medicine in her hands, a smile on her face that instantly vanished. The cup fell from her grasp and clattered to the floor, it's contents emptying out.

"NOOOOOOOO!" Flirt screamed, as her wails and sobs echoed throughout the clan.

Devoted had died.

A few years had past. Although Flirt stilled mourned, everything had pretty much returned to normal in The Garden.

That is, until a male mirror stood at the clan's borders, requesting to talk to the clan leader. Flirt accepted his request, and asked the mirror to meet her in the clan.

The fae anxiously awaited this unknown visitor. Minutes later, the dragon came within her sight.

"Greetings! I am from Dragonhome, and I wish to join your clan!" The mirror introduced himself, giving Flirt a bow in respect.

Flirt couldn't believe her eyes.
