Outcast from her original clan, an unnamed young fae was taken in by a smaller clan. While in their travels, they met the Dark-Blood clan, who exchanged many services for certain items. Due to their lack of funds, they did something strange. The small, hungry clan offered the young fae as a payment to the patriarch's hunting services. The patriarch of the Dark-Blood clan examined the fae critically, and for a while it seemed like he would reject the offering and chase the starving clan off of his territory.

But he took the fae under his wing and told the clan to eat their fill, as he had offered. The fae was then named Riptide, and she bid the small clan goodbye. She later found a mate, Borealis, who was barely accepted into the clan. Even to this day, the light dragon is threatened with exile, merely due to Shadowblood's hatred towards Light dragons.
