A clan elder and part of a council of flight matriarchs.
Along with the other elder matriarchs, she oversees the clan ceremonies and traditions.
The council also maintains inter-flight politics and social conventions and dynamics. They work to reduce conflict between differing flight members or values and attempt come to compromises while maintaining the integrity of flight alliances. They try to determine how each flight can maintain its values and identity while being integrated into the overall culture of the clan while also avoiding clashing with or overriding others.

Many of the more traditional coatls of the clan found themselves disapproving of her having a high rank in the clan, due to her dull, patchy plumage, and left for other clans, ones they considered better. That is not to say that a small handful of coatl members don't still hold their superstitions and have a slight prejudice toward her. They simply don't feel quite as strongly and tolerate her due to her merit, as well as the fact that they aren't fire dragons so they don't have a place to criticize most of her work, although they do hold her to a higher standard and are more critical toward her than they would be a "better" coatl.
Sometimes, she is mocked behind her back for her bright feathered accessories, judged for trying to make up for her unfortunate pale coloring with false plumage. These accusations are partially true.

Not only does she face difficulties with coatl members, but there are struggles internally with the council itself. Being coatl, the language barrier makes for difficult meetings.

Individually, the clan elders (with the exception of Aldith regarding Imperial matters) do not outrank Averinne, but together as a council their decisions almost always carry more weight than hers, and she allows it to be so. Averinne will also almost always consider their individual opinions higher than hers when it's regarding their native flights.
