Genesis

Genesis is SOLDIER First Class, second only to Sephiroth. Part of Project G, JENOVA genes injected into his shell gave him genes neither his parents exhibit, as well as a single, large, black wing. Immensely proud, this Pearlcatcher believes he is destined to be the hero of this age. Often seen alone, reading from his precious copy of LOVELESS, he dislikes talking to those he considers beneath him-which is to say, most of the Army. He has a rivalry going with Sephiroth over who is the greater swordsman; to date, Sephiroth is still victorious in all their sparring bouts. Genesis carries a spelled longsword, which he augments with fire magic-an unheard of skill for an Ice dragon. Genesis is a far greater spellcaster than any others in the Army; his fireballs can melt strong steel. Yet, he has gone rogue before, making clones of himself that do his bidding until they, weakened, can do no more than stumble around until someone puts them out of their misery.

A flying spellbook accompanies him. The Army captured the spellbook during the Siege of the Nocturnes, but the flying tome refused to let anyone near it, flying up where none could easily reach it. Genesis was able to tame it, and uses the book in his casting.
