Valentine is one of the most respected Yokai of the Night Parade, though she is simultaneously one of the most legitimately feared. A skilled medic with talents from basic first aid to intensive and invasive surgery, she has a fascination with bodies both in the peak of health and long after death.

Valentine was one of the last dragons born before the unification of the clan, and although that makes her relatively young, no dragon could argue with her medical talent. Originally, she was simply a scout under Dart’s command, but as dragons were hurt on missions and she patched them up, she took on a more and more specialized role. She essentially created the medical niche within the clan, almost eliminating the need for the clan’s herbalists and holistic healers. There was discussion of retiring her from the field to be a full-time medic, but she would have none of it.

For the most part, Valentine is a scout first and a medic second. She is essentially Dart’s second-in-command, traveling with the leading team so that she is able to quickly maneuver to wherever she is needed. This means that she occasionally gets to see combat rather than simply the results of it, and she is just as capable as inflicting wounds as she is fixing them. In fact, she enjoys inflicting them more. Still, because Dart’s scouting team rarely ventures out unless there is new territory to explore or reports of new clan activity in the area, Valentine spends a fair amount of time in her own lair. There she is equipped with all the necessary tools to perform just about any kind of surgery one would need, supplied by Agate, the clan’s only producer of advanced tools and machinery.

On a personal level, Valentine is just an unnerving creature. Cheerful enough, she loves to spout random medical trivia, and has a macabre sense of humor that many would find distasteful for a doctor. What’s worse is that she’s not above exercising that sense of humor with a patient; “bedside manner” is a concept lost upon her. It is nearly impossible to tell when she is upset or feeling any sort of negative emotion, though she always seems to have this underlying malice that intensifies during times of emotional distress. She gets bored very easily if she doesn’t have something interesting to study, so she can usually be found helping her mate Ilex develop and test new poisons. There is a rumor floating about the clan that she tests the poisons on those she doesn’t like when they come to her office, but that has yet to be supported, and she thinks of it as little more than a funny joke when confronted about it.
