Originally raised with her sister Koh in a frontier town, Glyph is worried that her life is rapidly falling apart.
Glyph and her sister were young members of the mercantile group Mothsmantle. While Koh was more rebellious and a fighter, Glyph was the calmer sibling, more focused and pragmatic but no less ambitious. Her love of puzzles compelled her into following a career as a lawman -- until two things happened in concert: first a group of Emperors ravaged a number of settlements, and then the young guardian Howlite went missing. Glyph was approached by the dragon's friend, Sigil, who brought word of a concerning cult forming in the canyons, and the suspicion that Howlite had been drawn into them.
Glyph was torn -- those she considered her family were preparing to start hunting Emperors and needed help, but so to did the worried fae. Deciding her skills of deduction would be more useful in retrieving the brainwashed guardian, she left Mothsmantle, driving a huge rift between herself and her sister.
...Only to find out that the leader of this cult, known as the Rockbreakers, was actually her paternal grandmother Ajra, who hated her father for leaving home. Now she is stuck in unfamiliar territory, without the emotional support of her sister, catching the brunt of her grandmother's abuse.
