Ylva was born a proud guardian, much like her father, to an ice clan in the frozen hills. She spent her first days with the scouts and messengers of her clan, wishing she could live their lives rather than her life as simply “the Allmother’s daughter”. Her unusual coloring and size coupled with her heritage made these ambitions difficult, and she finally entreated the Icewarden for an answer. He bestowed upon her a special gift; however, the gift came with a price, a puzzle to be solved in order to unlock these powers. “Seek ye thy true heritage, in both form and element, and thy true destiny shall be known,” he had said.
The answer came in the form of a journey. In the Starwood Strand, Ylva encountered both a breed change scroll that morphed her form into that of a Fae. Shortly after her change she bumped into her current mentor, Maia. Maia led her to the Blackened Citadel, where she learned to refine her shapeshifting and summoning skills. She became the clan’s ambassador to the Southern Icefields, visiting her home clan often, and a messenger to other allied clans - her shapeshifting skills easing her journeys through the Boneyard. These abilities, however, often lead her into trouble, as she enjoys scouting the surrounding areas for anything of interest to the clan’s anti-shade movement. One such outing led her straight into the clutches of a shadeling - her life being saved by a large, white blur of a guardian. Kel became a central pillar in her life, the older brother figure she never knew she’d wanted. |
