ASUNA LUCIDEM PROPHET Asuna, Lucidem's resident Prophet and Seer. Many moons ago, Lucidem's matriarch, Seraphina, was patrolling the Southernmost border of her clan when she came across a bloodied battlefield. Gale, Lucidem's fleetest scout, was with her, and Seraphina sent her back to call for The Protectors to come in case there were still warriors about. Seraphina continued to look at the damage, a bit irritated that the scuffle had broken out so close to the border of her clan. She found the body of what seemed to be a Lightning dragon, cut down while trying to flee she guessed, based on the pose he had fallen in and the fact that the fatal wound seemed to have came from behind. He had clutched in his rigid talons a satchel, stained with the nectar of life, in a grip tighter than death. Seraphina pulled a piece of the satchel back and realized why the dragon had been trying to flee; the cargo he carried was many different eggs, of many different alignments. One look told her that they were all destroyed. At least that's what she thought. Picking through the remains of so many lives taken before they had even begun to live, she found a single egg that was seemingly untouched. It was an ice egg, yet it shown so bright if it wasn't so blue it could have been mistaken for a Light egg. Seraphina felt something draw her to this egg, and she carefully picked it up and began to trek back to Lucidem. At this time the other Protectors arrived with Gale, and Seraphina ordered them to check the rest of the battlefield for anything that could be scavenged. The order was given to take no prisoners if any were found. Back at the clan, Seraphina raised the egg she found with her own brood. Of the five eggs that were there before, none hatched. Only the Ice egg she found survived. Out hatched a dragon who was as white as snow, with not a single mark upon her. Seraphina named this dragon Asuna, and proclaimed that this dragon would be trained as Lucidem's new prophet. The old prophet was outraged, feeling very betrayed that this infant was to be granted her title. In a fit of rage, she poisoned the youth with an elixir that made her forever sterile and blind. She was not caught, but Lightweaver saw her treachery, and cursed her with infertility and blindness as well. The other clan mates thought it may have been from a potion she made, as she was also the clan's main potion creator, and was oftentimes experimenting with new recipes trying to find poisons for battle, and cures for illness and trying them on herself or her familiar. She is now treated as an elder, and spends her days trying to find a cure for the ailment imposed on her. Asuna however took her disability in stride, and since her eyes now had the glazed appearance of someone who is without sight, no one second guessed her origins because no one noticed that she hadn't had Lightweaver blessed eyes before she was blinded. She now serves to predict the fortunes and famines that will come to her clan, and she also is used by Seraphina to weed out traitors in their midst. Asuna cannot be deceived as she can 'see' through any lie or falsehood. She also knows the cause of her blindness and sterility, though she has confided this to no one, not even her matriarch. She feels Lightweaver has gotten her revenge for her, and she is at peace with the incident. Wrath is Asuna's 'bodyguard', assigned to this task by Seraphina herself. He is always with her and has sworn his life to her protection. She sees his true feelings, but her attitude toward him is purely platonic. She has devoted herself, mind, body, and soul, to her clan and her adoptive deity, and will not take a mate, choosing a life of celibacy and purity over intimacy. |
