Shoal wasn't his real name, but it was what he had for now, so he might as well use it.

When he awakened on the deck of a sailing ship, with no memory of his own name or identity - able to remember that his brother was his brother, but not his brother's name, or their ages - he found himself accepting the whole situation with surprising ease.

He could understand why his brother was upset, of course. He was upset too. Anyone would be, after losing years of their lives and waking up far from home with no clue what became of their parents or their clan. Or their god.

But they were alive. They'd been saved by a kindly-seeming crew of strangers, who were treating them well and teaching them the ropes. (Literally! They were learning what to do with ropes to make a ship sail!) He'd learned to tie more knots than he'd ever known existed up until now; he could mend a fishing net or a sail and climb all over the rigging like it was his job, which at this point it kind of was. Nessi told him she'd pay him as soon as they got to shore, and that he could join her crew or move on as he saw fit.

He was inclined to move on. He was still young, he felt, and he had his whole life ahead of him. He wanted to see more of Sorneith than its oceans. 		TzbgKys.png
