Though by nature Dreamwardens are already incorporeal beings devoted to defending the Dream Corridors, Caodai takes it to the next level and is truly insubstantial. This means that fiends cannot hit and strike him...but it comes with the trade-off that neither can he hit or strike them. This may seem redundant in his duties but Caodai has a secret weapon in the power of his voice. When he speaks softly, no one can mishear him or misunderstand what he says. But when he shrieks or unleashes a loud cry, it can cause pain and damage in all who hear it, especially nightmares and fiends. As such he prefers to ensure that any sleeping minds are safely away before he unleashes the full power of his shriek, but he also uses it as a way to distract and frighten away enemies, and to draw the attention of other Dreamwardens.

Constantly on patrol, Caodai never seems to rest or require stimulation of any kind. He often prefers to keep to himself, but sometimes he can be found lingering close to small groups of sleeping minds, listening to their conversations and peeking in on their dreams. He seems curious about most things outside of the Dream Corridors but is also inquisitive about things that others seem to take for granted, such as the feel of grass on skin, or the scent of flowers, the taste of a candied fruit, and so on. However he is also content as he is and wears his title of Wraith with pride.
